REMINDER OTHER THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CBC SYSTEM OF EDUCATION AND HOW IT WILL AFFECT SECONDARY EDUCATION

This is 2020: The pupils in grade 4 of CBC system will join Junior Secondary School in 2023. Their counterparts in class 5 of 8.4.4 system will join Secondary school in 2024. It means that pupils in grade 4 will leave those in class 5 behind in primary as they join secondary school.

In 2023: The current pupils in grade 4 of CBC will join Secondary schools. And the current pupils in class 6 of 8.4.4 will also be joining Secondary schools. This means that in 2023 their will be double intake of learners joining secondary school.

In 2024, 2025,2026, and 2027: There will be two parallel systems of education, - the 8.4.4 and CBC running concurrently in our Secondary schools.

In 2027: The pupils who are currently in class 5 of 8.4.4 will do their final Secondary exam (KCSE) and that will mark the end of 8.4.4 in our secondary schools

In 2028: The first Secondary exam for CBC will be administered for the pupils who are currently in grade 4. Meanwhile, the last batch of 8.4.4 system will join their first year at the Universities

In 2029: The first batch of CBC who are currently in grade 4 will join their first year in University. In 2031: Both the learners who are currently in grade 4 (CBC) and class 5 (8.4.4) will be completing their university education.

1. Do you think you as a parent is ready to cater for your children Education properly?

2. Do you think your area M.P has in place the right strategy to ensure that the secondary schools are ready for this momentum come 2023 through CDF?

3. Do you think the government is sure that the Junior Secondary school will exist in the current Secondary schools?

4. Do you think Kenya has enough analytical brains in the Ministry of Education that can digest this analysis and formulate appropriate strategies which can allow for proper management of such dynamics? My thinking though to keep you informed.
